Meet our Psychotherapist.
At Summerhill Health Centre, psychotherapy provides a welcoming and private space to talk openly, better understand what you're experiencing and work toward the changes that matter to you. Your therapist will work collaboratively with you to understand your needs, concerns and goals, and develop an approach that feels appropriate for you.

What is psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process that can help you explore thoughts, emotions, behaviours and experiences that may be affecting how you feel and function.
People seek therapy for many different reasons. You may be going through a difficult period, feeling overwhelmed or stuck, navigating a significant life change, or simply wanting a better understanding of yourself and your relationships.
There is no single reason you need to have before starting therapy. Your sessions are shaped around what you're experiencing and what you'd like to work on.
How we approach shiatsu therapy at Summerhill?
We believe that effective therapy begins with feeling comfortable, heard and understood.
Your therapist will take the time to understand your individual circumstances rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. Together, you'll identify the areas you'd like to explore and determine therapeutic strategies that fit your needs and goals.
Depending on your situation, psychotherapy may help you:
-
Better understand your thoughts, emotions and behaviours
-
Develop strategies for managing stress and difficult emotions
-
Navigate life transitions and challenging experiences
-
Explore relationship and communication patterns
-
Build self-awareness and confidence
-
Work through ongoing personal challenges
-
Develop healthier coping strategies
-
Create meaningful and sustainable changes in your life
Who can psychotherapy help?
People come to therapy at many different points in their lives and for many different reasons.
Psychotherapy may be helpful if you're experiencing:
-
Stress, overwhelm or burnout
-
Anxiety or persistent worry
-
Low mood or emotional difficulties
-
Relationship or family challenges
-
Major life transitions
-
Work-related or personal stress
-
Difficulty coping with change
-
Self-esteem or confidence concerns
-
Grief or loss
-
Ongoing patterns you'd like to better understand or change
You don't need to wait until things feel overwhelming to seek support. Therapy can also be a space for personal growth, reflection and developing a better understanding of yourself.
What to expect at your appointment?
Starting therapy can feel like a big step, particularly if you've never worked with a therapist before.
Your first appointment is an opportunity to talk about what brought you in, what you're hoping to get from therapy and any concerns you'd like to address. Your therapist will ask questions to better understand your circumstances and begin developing a picture of how they can support you.
You don't need to arrive with everything figured out. You can start wherever you are, and your therapist will help guide the conversation.
Over time, your sessions will evolve based on your goals, needs and progress.
A safe space within a multidisciplinary clinic.
Summerhill Health Centre has always been a place where patients can build long-term relationships with practitioners they trust.
Our multidisciplinary team includes chiropractic care, massage therapy, medical acupuncture, Shiatsu therapy, naturopathic medicine and psychotherapy. While each service is distinct, our shared approach is centered on individualized care and understanding the person behind the reason they're seeking treatment.
Psychotherapy is completely confidential, and your sessions remain a private space between you and your therapist.
